A Vietnamese woman reportedly cheated and trafficked to China has been rescued and returned home safely, said Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Le Hai Binh at a regular press conference on September 10.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry received a report through its citizen protection hotline for Lam Bich Tuyen was being detained in an unknown place in China’s Fujian province.

Immediately after receiving the information, the ministry directed the Vietnamese Embassy in China to work with authorised Chinese agencies to verify the information and rescue the victim, said Binh.

On September 4, the embassy, in collaboration with Fujian province’s police, sent Tuyen home, he said.

Regarding the death of a Vietnamese national during a clash in Osaka, Japan, the spokesperson said the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka worked with the Japanese side to confirm the surrounding information and roll out necessary measures to protect Vietnamese nationals involved in the case.

According to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, the Japanese side confirmed that the victim is Nguyen Trong Tuan. However, no further details have been revealed as the case is currently under investigation.

Earlier on September 9, the Consulate General representatives visited another injured victim, Trinh Hoai Nam , whose is recovering, said Binh. They also asked the Japanese side for permission to visit the rest of the victims.

Binh also added that the Vietnamese General Consulate in Osaka is keeping a close watch on the case while working closely with authorised agencies in the host country and the victims’ families to organise a burial service for the deceased and support the injured.

The Consulate General has also reminded the Vietnamese community in Osaka to strictly follow the host country’s law and avoid the reoccurrence of similar cases.-VNA
