Specific strategies of ASEAN and its agencies to further promote and protect human rights of women have been identified at a recent symposium called “Women for Human Rights” in Indonesia.
Jointly held by the ASEAN Secretariat and the UN Women’s Agency, the event was funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the UN Women Fund and the Indonesian non-governmental organisation of Kalyanamitra.
Participants discussed and got updated with international legal documents on gender equality and women rights to gain full understanding of laws relating to women.
At the event, regional and world experts exchanged professional knowledge and experiences related to human rights, especially women and children rights.-VNA
