A traditional wood carving contest was launched in Buon Ma Thuat city in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on March 8.
Nearly 40 regional craftsmen will demonstrate their skill and creativity through sculptures reflecting local culture and the natural world.
Speaking at the event’s opening ceremony, Mai Hoan Nie Kdam, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the contest is designed to preserve and promote the region’s distinguishing tradition.
The competition runs through March 11, ahead of the 5th Buon Ma Thuat Coffee Festival that will commence on March 10.
The 3-day festival, an opportunity to boost the regional socio-economy, entails a range of activities including a gong concert, a traditional costume show, and a coffee-making contest.-VNA
