Quang Nam (VNA) - Construction of a Republic of Korea (RoK)-funded industrial park commenced on December 29 in Tam Anh commune, Nui Thanh district, the central province of Quang Nam.

Covering 200 hectares of land, the 525 billion VND (23.4 million USD) Tam Anh-RoK Industrial Park will focus on developing infrastructure in the area. Licensed by the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (OEZ) Management Board in April 2013, the project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, Lee Chung Keun, Chairman and General Director of C&N VINA Co., Ltd – the investor - highlighted that the provincial authorities and relevant agencies have always created favourable conditions for the company in investment licence and land clearance.

The company pledges to expedite the construction so that the project can become operational as scheduled while calling on more RoK enterprises to invest in the park, he added.

According to Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Khanh Toan, the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and the project area in eastern Quang Nam had attracted 110 projects with total registered capital of more than 2 billion USD by the end of December 2015. Of the total, 71 projects have gone into operation and created jobs for over 12,000 locals.

In the past few years, the provincial leaders and the OEZ management board have paid due attention to investing in industrial infrastructure as part of the efforts to fine-tune the local investment climate, he said.-VNA
