Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan on July 19 attended the ground breaking ceremony for the Central Highlands’ general hospital, which is being built in Buon Me Thuot City, in Dak Lak province.

The 800-bed regional general hospital, which will sit on a 12ha site, has an investment of 1.1 trillion VND, raised from Government bonds.

On being completed in 2013, the hospital will meet the demand for high-tech medical check-ups and treatments for people in the Central Highlands region and several provinces of neighbouring countries Laos and Cambodia .

Up to now in the region, serious cases such as brain injuries or cancer that require special high-tech treatment, have had to go to hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City . The construction of a general hospital in the Central Highlands will also help with the overcrowding at other hospitals./.
