Construction of the Ho Chi Minh City bio-technology centre, cost 100 million USD, started on May 25.

Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan stressed the importance of science technology with bio-technology a spearhead.

He then directed relevant agencies and branches to remove obstacles to ensure the project’s capital and tempo, so as the centre may become operational before 2014.

According to Director of the municipal bio-technology centre, Dr. Duong Hoa Xo, the 23ha centre will include a greenhouse and a net house, an R&D area and 12 bio-technology labs.

He said the centre is applying bio-technology in production with priority given to agriculture and aquaculture sectors, and paying attention to human resource training./.
