Hanoi is to start the construction of 18 pedestrian bridges on October 10, coinciding with its Liberation Day, said Nguyen Sy Bao, Director of the major project management unit in Hanoi (MPMU).

Under a contract signed between the MPMU and the Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) and the Construction Machinery Corporation (Coma), the project is divided into two bid packages with a total cost of 350 billion VND (19.6 million USD), according to the Hanoi Moi daily on Oct. 5.

The fund is part of the investment allocated to the first phase of the Hanoi urban transport infrastructure project.

As planned, Lilama will build 10 bridges at Chua Boc, Tay Son, Nguyen Trai, Tran Khat Chan, Giai Phong, Thai Ha and Ngoc Hoi streets. Coma will conduct the construction of the eight remainders at Lang Ha, Giang Vo, Tran Duy Hung, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Lieu Giai, Hoang Quoc Viet and Xuan Thuy streets./.
