Working group of National Plastic Action Partnership makes debut

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) organised a ceremony on March 28 to introduce the working group of the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP).

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of NaturalResources and Environment (MONRE), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the WorldWide Fund for Nature (WWF) organised a ceremony on March 28 to introduce theworking group of the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP).

MONRE Deputy Minister Vo Tuan Nhan said thepartnership is intended to help Vietnam build and implement its circular economyto cut plastic waste, and roll out economic projects and strategies.

The programme will bring together high-rankingleaders of international development organisations and credit organisations,foreign investors, economic sectors and social organisations in the workinggroup.

It will also promote the ministry’s role in joiningand implementing international treaties, and enhance bilateral and multilateralcooperation as well as the public-private partnership in plastic waste management.

Under the programme, experts and scientists will studyand propose orientations and solutions to implement the circular economy andease plastic waste pollution in Vietnam.

Resources from organisations and individuals at homeand abroad will also mobilised to roll out relevant plans, programmes andprojects.

Apart from workshops, policy dialogues andconference, there will be activities and campaigns to raise public awareness ofplastic waste, and promote good practices as well as initiatives in thisfield./.

Storm brings heavy rains to northern Vietnam

Storm Narra, the fourth to hit the East Sea this year, brought strong winds and heavy rains to northern Vietnam on early August 22, with some areas forecast to receive more than 500mm of rain as the storm moves slowly over the northern waters of the East Sea.

The project is being implemented in the former Hoa Binh city, now Hoa Binh ward. It has a total investment of 688.7 billion VND (26.38 million USD), including 507.3 billion VND in ODA and 181.4 billion VND in counterpart funding. Major components include a wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, a collection network, and connection infrastructure.

Government adopts action programme on environmental protection, climate resilience

The programme aims to translate the Party's orientations into concrete actions while strengthening environmental governance, enhancing climate resilience, and promoting a green, circular and low-carbon economy. It will serve as the basis for ministries, sectors and localities to formulate implementation plans for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
