A workshop aimed at supporting Vietnamese businesses to build strategies to export goods to the Republic of Korea (RoK) was held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 22.

The workshop, themed “Opportunities and challenges in the RoK market”, introduced methods to access the market, the culture, business habits, laws and import regulations as well as business and investment opportunities in the RoK.

Co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre and the RoK Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City , the workshop offered a chance for Vietnamese businesses to meet and discuss their advantages and disadvantages, competitiveness and business strategies with RoK experts.

According to Commercial Service Korea (CS Korea), to engage in successful business and avoid risk, before signing contracts, Vietnamese businesses should seek legal consultations relating to contract articles, intellectual property rights, trademark registration and patents.

The RoK is now Vietnam ’s fourth largest export market, accounting for over 4 percent of the country’s total export turnover in 2010.

Vietnam mainly exports crude oil, seafood, coffee, cotton, garments, footwear, wood and wood products to the RoK. Meanwhile, RoK investors are involved in almost all fields in Vietnam, including infrastructure construction, telecommunication, heavy industries, real estate, auto production, shipbuilding, restaurants and hotels./.
