Experience to develop the household economy in rural areas was shared at a workshop in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on November 5.

Jointly held by the province and the VietnamWomen’s Union (VWU), the event was part of the ongoing Soc Trang -Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum (MDEC).

It aimed at introducing excellent production models, finding measuresto help women escape from poverty and connecting businesses withproduction households.

The VWU’s report showsthat in the Mekong Delta, the household economy model quickly adapts tothe market mechanism, contributing to increasing the efficiency of usingnatural resources and addressing unemployment in rural areas.

The union has provided assistance for over 665,000 households, helping 20,000 of them escape from poverty.

On the same day, another workshop on the life and career ofagriculturalist Luong Dinh Cua, who was a pioneer in experimentalagricultural science and provided farmers with innovative techniques toimprove their harvests, took place within the framework of the MDEC –Soc Trang.-VNA

Da Nang to replace 1,140 dilapidated houses by May 2025

The total budget for the project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in Da Nang this year is estimated at 47.4 billion VND (1.85 billion USD). Of this, 30.3 billion VND will be sourced from the state budget, while the remainder from the for the poor fund and other fundraising efforts.

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.
