A conference to hear suggestions from embassies in Vietnam, international organisations, and sponsors on how to deal with climate change was held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in Hanoi on January 29.
The recommendations will help the ministry complete a draft project on “policies and solutions in active response to climate change, promoting the protection of the environment and natural resources” before the draft will be submitted to the Politburo and Party Central Committee.
The United Nations Resident Coordinator Pratibha Mehta applauded Vietnam’s commitment to climate change mitigation and environment and natural resource preservation.
The UN will continue to work with Vietnamese partners towards sustainable development, including sharing international experience with Vietnam and help enhance the country’s capacity in this field, she said.
At the event, participants proposed solutions to combat climate change and enhance the protection of the environment and natural resources.-VNA
