Workshop to facilitate Vietnamese businesses in Laos

A workshop was held on March 19 in Vientiane, Laos to help ease Vietnamese business difficulties in employing labourers while operating in the country.

The event, organised by the LaoMinistry of Labour and Social Welfare (MoLSW), was attended by DeputyMinister Baykham Khatthinha, Minister Counsellor Tran Manh Cuong, andcrowds of representatives of businesses from the two countries.

The workshop was designed to improve the Ministry and relevantbodies’ implementation of the Agreement on Labour Cooperation jointlysigned by the two Governments, as well as to create a favourablebusiness climate for Vietnamese enterprises in the country.

Addressing the event, the Lao Deputy Minister spoke highly of workingskills and attitude of Vietnamese labourers, affirming that the workershave made significant contributions to local socio-economicdevelopment.

The Government of Laos and theMinistry consider Vietnamese labourers in Laos a part of the country’sworkforce, she added.

She also called forVietnamese businesses and labourers to abide by the laws and regulationsof the host nation to ensure their own successes and facilitatemanagement.

Representatives from Vietnamesebusinesses suggested the country expand its labour quota, reduce labourfees, and simplify licensing procedures to encourage Vietnameselabourers to work in the country.-VNA

Japan’s research on non-edible oil feedstocks showed that Jatropha is highly drought-tolerant and could grow well on wasteland, eroded sandy land and infertile soil. Given this, areas in central Vietnam, including Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan and the Central Highlands, have climatic, sunlight and soil conditions suitable for achieving high seed yields and oil content.
