With almost 100 high-profile participants, a two-day workshop on digital diplomacy, which opened in Hanoi on October 27, is seen as a good start for the Government to promote on-line public relations.

British Ambassador Mark Kent was among the optimists in this regard at the workshop after praising Vietnam for its numerous successes in promoting its national image through people-to-people and cultural diplomacy.

Also among the participants was Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Cuong, who emphasised that the Vietnamese Government attaches great importance to the development of Information Technology (IT).

“The Government is working hard to turn Vietnam into an IT power soon,” said the diplomat.

He added that one of the important tasks set by the Government was to facilitate the use of IT by public agencies.

“The Foreign Ministry is paying special attention to the application of IT and the use of the internet in foreign relations as well as in promoting its national image”, concluded the deputy minister./.
