Soccer fans in Vietnam will enjoy a veritable feast of football as all 64 World Cup matches will be broadcast live from South Africa for the first time on Vietnam Multimedia Corporation’s (VTC) high definition TV channels.

“With HD television, viewers can indulge themselves as it will be almost like sitting there in a South African stadium yourself,” said Le Van Khuong, VTC’s Deputy Director.

The focal point of VTC’s coverage on the largest sports event on the planet is a programme called “World Cup Overview”. It will be broadcast from four different sites including Johannesburg , Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh and Nghe An.

Matches will be supplemented by various reports and live on-the-spot coverage by VTC reporters and editors in South African cities such as Cape Town and Pretoria . The corporation is using the occasion to increase the number of its channels to a record high of 100 from the current 42 channels, of which 30 will be HD channels.

The 2010 World Cup will take place in South Africa from June 1 to July 12./.
