Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is organising a host of activities in response to World Oceans Day 2020 and Vietnam Sea and Island Week from June 1 to 8, which spotlight the importance of innovation for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine-based economy.

Activities include online conferences and seminars on the management, exploitation, and use of natural resources and the protection of the sea and island environment towards sustainable development and unified management.

Such activities offer an opportunity to introduce new ideas, products, and solutions that highlight innovations in fields relating to the ocean, such as technology, infrastructure networks, management of resources, products, and new technologies.

They focus on popularising Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and laws on issues relating to Vietnam’s sea and islands, in order to attract investment and enhance national economic potential.

Localities nationwide are also arranging public activities and will launch emulation movements to attract community participation, especially young people and women, including campaigns to clean up the marine environment and collect and treat waste./.
