Training courses on stack emission monitoring standards widely applied in the world have been held environment officials, aimed at making these standards applicable soon in Vietnam.

The courses were organised for officials from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hanoi, Da Nang, Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Long An, Hai Duong, Quang Ngai and Soc Trang.

Developed by the Vietnam Provincial Environmental Governance Project (VPEG) with support from the Canadian government, the courses were expected to help with the creation of policies and favourable legal environment to build stack emission monitoring capacity in Vietnam.

Stack emission monitoring conducted by the Departments of Natural Resources and Environment nationwide is currently limited to “quick” measurements for some gaseous pollutants using portable analyzers.

These quick measurements do not conform to standardized procedures or international practices.-VNA
