The 2010 European Seafood Exposition, the world’s largest seafood fair, took place in Brussels from April 27-29, bringing together 1,600 enterprises from 144 countries in the world.

More than 60 seafood producers and processors from Vietnam attended the fair, displaying their products on an area of 508 sq. m.

Nguyen Huu Dung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), said that the Vietnamese business delegation ranked second in term of scale, only after Spain , at the fair.

The fair is significant for the world’s fisheries as prices of seafood products for delivery this year will be based on transactions here, said Dung, adding that Vietnamese seafood enterprises managed to sell their products at good prices.

VASEP is helping its member enterprises meet international high standards.
At present, Vietnam has four enterprises securing the Global Good Aquaculture Practice (Global GAP), the highest criteria on hygiene safety for foodstuffs in the world.

Earning the Global GAP is the best way to protect prestige and trademark of Vietnamese seafood on the world market, Dung affirmed./.
