The Wukong Typhoon will enter the East Sea and the Truong Sa Archipelago on Dec.27, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecast.

By 1am on Dec. 28 it will be about 100km from Vietnam's Song Tu Tay Island moving east with wind speeds of 62-88kph.

Due to the typhoon, the East Sea will be rough this afternoon with wind speeds of 49-117kph.

The National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control on Dec. 25 cabled coastal provinces from Quang Binh to Kien Giang and relevant ministries to ask them to monitor the typhoon's development and inform ships about any emergency situations.

Meanwhile, a cold spell is moving from the North to the South, causing scattered rain in the North and temperatures of 16-24 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi will experience showers, strong winds and temperatures of 15-19 degrees Celsius.
The central areas will also experience scattered rains with temperatures of 14-32 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands provinces will see sunshine and temperatures of 16-29 degrees Celsius.

The South will be sunny during the day with scattered rain at night and temperatures of 22-33 degrees Celsius./.VNA
