A working team from the Atlantic Philanthropies (AP) in Vietnam – an organisation supporting people in accessing health care services – toured the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai to inspect the first phase of a project upgrading the local health care system.
The organisation also plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with Yen Bai on the implementation of the second phase of the project, which will run from 2014 to 2016.
Launched in August 2012, the project has proved its efficiency in raising the quality of health care services in the locality.
To date, 33 new health clinics have been built at a cost of 5 million USD, half of which is non-refundable aid from the AP.
As of December 2013, construction of 17 stations had been completed with full equipment valued at 7.2 billion VND (338,400 USD).
According to Ta Van Long, Standing Vice Chairman of the Yen Bai People’s Committee, the province will create all possible conditions for the implementation of the project in its second phase.
It will speed up human resources training following project demand, while supervising contractors to ensure the progress is made on schedule.-VNA
