Yen Bai (VNA) – A ceremony was recently held in the northern province of Yen Bai to celebrate the 10 years of the cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese locality and Vientiane province of Laos.

Addressing the event on September 29, Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Secretary of the Yen Bai Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council, said Vientiane and Yen Bai have exerted tireless efforts to overcome challenges to bring bilateral cooperation and friendship to a new height.

She voiced her belief that the two provinces’ friendship will continue to bear fruit and that their people will write new and brighter chapters in the history of cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, as well as between Yen Bai and Vientiane.

For his part, Governor of Vientiane province Vidong Sayasone, also Secretary of the provincial Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, praised the outcomes of the two sides’ collaboration, describing the 10th anniversary as a landmark of their ties that are important to enhancing the amity, solidarity and all-round cooperation between the provinces.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung lauded the activeness and resolve of the provinces’ leaders in strengthening Yen Bai – Vientiane relations.

He said the provinces’ cooperation is a highlight of the closely-knitted friendship between Vietnamese and Lao localities. He said he believes this relationship will develop to a new level and contribute to the countries’ connections.

On this occasion, Vietnam and Laos bestowed the Friendship Order upon the two provinces.-VNA
