A young symphony orchestra of Vietnam has given a performance at the Phiharmonie concert palace in Berlin, Germany.

This was the first time a large music group from Vietnam, including more than 70 students of the Vietnam National Conservatoire, had attended the Beethoven Festival at the invitation of the German communications group Deutsche Welle.

The young Vietnamese musicians under the baton of French conductor Claire Levacher performed extracts of Beethoven’s Symphony No.7, other musical works of Vietnam, helping audiences better understand culture, land and people of the Asian country.

Addressing the performance, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Do Hoa Binh said the event was part of a cultural exchange programme towards the 35th anniversary of establishment of the two countries’ diplomatic ties next year.

The annual Beethoven festival attracted well-known orchestras from China, Georgia, Turkey, Poland, Ukraine, South Africa, Egypt and Russia.

The Vietnamese orchestra also performed in Bonn, home city of Beethoven./.
