Nineteen Vietnamese young people, including officials from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the agricultural sector, are attending a young leaders training programme in the Japanese city of Tono from August 31.

The 18-day programme is part of a technical cooperation agreement between the Japanese government and developing countries which aims to develop human resources.

The programme covers fields such as agriculture, local development and small and medium-sized enterprises’ operations.

In agriculture, the programme will create opportunities for young Vietnamese people to study, visit and discuss agricultural issues with Japanese farmers.

The young leaders training programme, which is a follow-up of the Japanese-ASEAN young people’s friendship programme, was launched in 1995 under an agreement between both governments.

So far it has enrolled more than 13,000 Vietnamese young people./.
