The ASEAN-Republic of Korea (RoK) Joint Cooperation Committee convened its first meeting at the ASEAN Secretariat’s headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 21.

Participants reviewed the two sides’ cooperative activities in the past year, especially those under the 2011-2015 ASEAN-RoK Action Plan, and the implementation of agreements reached at the 16 th ASEAN-RoK Summit held in Brunei in October last year.

They also discussed several important issues, including the implementation of activities to mark the 25 th anniversary of the ASEAN-RoK dialogue partnership, as well as measures to increase the efficiency of the two sides’ development cooperation, including new approaches to accelerate the process of approval and implementation of cooperative projects.

Both sides took a close look at methods and means to ensure the effective deployment of the ASEAN-RoK Action Plan in the three pillars of politics-security, economics and culture-social affairs.

The meeting was chaired by Ambassador-Head of the Indonesian Permanent Representative Delegation to ASEAN Rahmat Pramono and Ambassador-Head of the RoK Permanent Representative Delegation to ASEAN Baek Seong-Taek.-VNA
