On June 4th, the official welcome ceremony for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese took place at the Government Office during his official visit to Vietnam from June 3rd to June 4th.

During his visit, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese held a bilateral meeting and talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính. 

At the meeting, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính extended a warm welcome to Mr. Anthony Albanese on his first official visit to Vietnam as the Prime Minister of Australia. 

He emphasized the significance of this visit, as it coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which would further bolster the bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính expressed his gratitude to Australia for being a steadfast partner and providing support to Vietnam in its nation-building and development endeavors. 

He emphasized Vietnam's commitment to enhancing friendship and cooperation with Australia.

In response, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed Australia's appreciation of the Strategic Partnership with Vietnam and acknowledged Vietnam's pivotal role in Australia's regional strategy towards Southeast Asia. 

He pledged to make Vietnam a focal point in Australia's 2040 Southeast Asia Economic Strategy, currently under development, and to continue fostering cooperation in the Mekong sub-region.

Both leaders agreed to further strengthen cooperation and close coordination in multilateral forums, particularly at the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC, and others.

In the visit, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced a 105 million AUD package to support Vietnam in infrastructure development, climate change adaptation, and energy transition initiatives./.
