The newly- formed National Election Committee (NEC) of Cambodia will officially assume its duties on April 13 after a ceremony to transfer power from the previous NEC on the same day.

On April 9, a list of the nine members of the new NEC was approved by the country’s National Assembly.

Sik Bun Hok, a former member of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), was appointed NEC Chairman and Kuoy Bun Roen, a former member of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), was selected as the Vice Chairman.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sik Bun Hok affirmed that the committee will do its utmost to perform its tasks with independence, neutrality, integrity, transparency.-VNA
