China-ASEAN foreign direct investment (FDI) has surpassed 10 billion USD, China ’s Vice Commerce Minister Gao Hu Cheng said on April 8.

At a meeting discussing preparations for the eighth China-ASEAN fair in Gui Lin, Guangxi, Cheng, who is also China International Trade Representative, said Chinese investment into ASEAN countries has seen fast growth, step by step restoring the imbalance in the first years of the 21 st century.

According to statistics, China ’s investment in ASEAN countries totalled 3.5 billion USD in 2010, a 13-fold increase over 2003. Meanwhile ASEAN’s investment to China reached 6.3 billion USD, up 35.2 percent over the same period last year.

China has shifted its investment to manufacturing, energy and trade and service sectors instead of mining and construction./.
