Christmas Eve celebrations are taking place throughout the country.


In Ho Chi Minh City, a three-day festival called Yeah 1 Wonderland, opened in Thao Cam Vien on Dec. 23, attracting lots of young people to such programmes as Hip Hop SuperNova, Cosplay, Carnival Teen and Street Art.

A gala night with the participation of more than 100 singers, artists and models, is underway at the Youth Culture Palace as part of an artistic programme that will last until Dec.31.

At Dam Sen Culture Park , many art performances for teenagers are being held, while a rock night “Blue Xmas” and laser light show in District 7 are enticing participants.

A programme named “Warm Hold” in the municipal Cultural Labour Palace is in progress, aiming to present gifts to state employees and workers struggling against terminal illness and children from families facing difficulties.

Despite the cold spell, Catholic followers in the central Thua Thien-Hue province are gathering at the splendidly decorated Phu Cam Cathedral to enjoy a cosy Christmas.

Over the past few days, the Catholic community in the province conducted many charitable activities, such as providing medicines for thousands of patients and financial assistance to ten children who will undergo heart operations, and presenting wheelchairs to physically-challenged students.

They also spent 2.6 billion VND to buy rice for old people and orphans and present Tet (Lunar New Year festival) gifts to 200 old people and scholarships to 68 disadvantaged students.

On these days, over 130,000 parishioners in Thanh Hoa province have been participating in activities to celebrate Christmas./.
