The court sector needs to focus on improving the quality of judgment to avoid unfair trials and minimise overdue cases.

The request was made by President Truong Tan Sang at a conference on court tasks for 2012 held by the Supreme People’s Court in HCM City on Jan. 3.

President Sang, who is also head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, urged the sector to build a strong contingent of employees, with good professional ethnics and skills.

The sector should to have a plan to train its staff to become legal experts capable of joining regional and international jurisdictional institutions to defend national sovereignty and benefit during the country’s international integration.

In 2012, the sector will focus on the reform of tries to renew judicial procedures at courts in order to improve the quality and efficiency of hearings. It will also place importance on assessment of implementation of the 1992 Constitution and increase personnel training.

The Supreme People’s Court and the Presidential Office on this occasion signed a regulation on coordination between the two agencies./.
