Diplomat: Vietnam wants to deepen cooperation with Guyana
The Government and people of Vietnam want to strengthen and deepen traditional friendship and cooperation with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Guyana Do Ba Khoa.

Khoa made the statement during a recent ceremony in Guyana’s Georgetown capital city where he presented his credentials to President David Granger.
The ambassador said Vietnam has closely followed Guyana’s situation and is delighted to see that under the leadership of President Granger, the country’s politics has become more stable and economy continued to grow, while its role and position in the Caribbean economic community has improved.
Khoa urged the Government of Guyana to soon recognise Vietnam as a market economy, considering it as an important step to boost bilateral cooperation.
He proposed the two nations continue coordinating at international and regional forums and find ways to boost bilateral partnership in areas of their strengths or interests.
President Granger, for his part, said the two countries have seen progress in their relations since they established diplomatic ties in 1975. He spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements during the “Doi moi” (reform) process and its greater role in the regional and global arena.
He suggested the two sides further step up cooperation in agricultural technology, management and protection of ecosystems and national parks and coping with climate change.-VNA
