The nation’s first oil refinery, Dung Quat, has turned out 1.4 million tonnes of qualified products by mid-December, during its trial operation period.

Of the total, 1.2 million tonnes of the products have been sold in the market, according to Truong Van Tuyen, PetroVietnam Deputy General Director and Head of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Project Management Board.

The management board and Binh Son Refining and Petro-chemical Company together with contractors are checking and fixing technical errors for the plant hand-over as scheduled.

By November, most of the plant’s workshops were fully operated.

Representative of contractor Technip, PK Singh, said the trial run period, started in August, will stop from Dec. 22 to Jan. 13, 2010 for fixing remaining technical problems, including replacing a broken valve in the residue fluid continuous cracking apparatus (RFCC), which makes gasoline and other products, with a new one./.
