Hanoi (VNA) - Electronic versions of various historical and folk legends of Vietnam have been widely launched via international e-book channels and libraries in Europe and the United States.

Military Viettel Telecom Corporation and Kim Dong Publishing House have jointly promoted more than 30 English-Vietnamese bilingual e-books, with colour illustrations featuring Vietnamese historical and folk legends, via more than 180 retail book channels such as iBooks, Barnes and Noble and Google and various libraries in Europe and the US.

The book collections include Kings of Vietnam, Heroes of Vietnam, Vietnam Legendaries and Vietnam in Old Tales, besides Dear Hanoi.

The books are aimed at the Vietnamese community living overseas and other Asian people living in Europe and America.

"Vietnam is known as a country with a strong identity and beautiful landscapes," Mai Tri Dung, an official from Viettel Telecom, said. "Now Viettel wants to offer a chance to people all over the world, especially descendants of overseas Vietnamese to understand the Vietnamese culture better."

Viettel has installed software that automatically converts PDF files into the EPUB 3.0.2 standard to match all reading devices and screen sizes in five languages which are Vietnamese, English, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.

Viettel also cares about metadata management solutions that follow the international ONIX 3.0 standard of the International Digital Publishing Forum.-VNA
