Overviews on Vietnam’s macro-economy, challenges and opportunities for investment and business this year were shared at the feast-day for investors-2012 held in HCM City on Feb. 16.

Economist Le Dang Doanh forecast that in 2012, inflation will decline although complications remain, resulting in a decrease in bank interest rates.

Restructuring investment, banks and state-owned enterprises (SOE) is likely to offer a new opportunity for the private sector to become involved in infrastructure projects, he said.

The move can also offer a chance to revitalise securities market and foreign investment attraction through trade of shares and businesses, he said.

Also at the workshop, which drew 20 speakers including leading Vietnamese economists and businessmen and representatives from enterprises, presentations were made on investment and business channels, and business opportunities in communication and entertainment, agricultural product processing, IT, real estate, securities and banking./.
