The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF) will hold a regional forum on economic cooperation among French-speaking nations in Hanoi from April 3-4.

The forum is expected to bring together about 150 participants from several of Vietnam’s ministries, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the OIF, the network of structures and institutions in charge of Francophone in regions across the world, organisations involved with economic cooperation, enterprises and development partners.

It will include three sessions, focusing on how to promote economic cooperation in the Francophone Community towards sustainable economic growth in the time to come.

At a meeting in Laos in October last year, the network of structures and institutions in charge of Francophone in Asia-Pacific proposed a plan to establish a regional forum on economic cooperation to submit to the 15th Francophone Summit in Senegal in November 2014.

This is considered an important change in the cooperation framework of the Francophone Community, which always focuses on the fields of politics, language and culture.-VNA
