The domestic gold price has soared 2.8 million VND per tael ( One tael is equal to 1.2 ounces) after one week of transactions.

After skyrocketing to over 47.5 million VND per tael in the afternoon of August 19, the gold price decreased 400,000 VND per tael on August 20 to stand at around 46.80-47.17 million VND (buying/selling).

The gold price hike was blamed for the increasing global price, which reached 1,852 USD per ounce by 4 pm on August 20.

However, the domestic gold price is still higher than the world price by 500,000 VND per tael.

In the foreign currency market, the inter-bank foreign exchange rate regulated by the State Bank of Vietnam has been kept stable at 20,618 VND per USD in ten consecutive days.

Meanwhile, the VND/USD rate at commercial banks has reached the ceiling price of 20,824 VND per USD./.
