Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s relevant agencies are making the final touches to the ASIAD 2018 village in Kemayoran, Jakarta, as the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD 18) is taking place in August.

Riky Johansah, who is a manager of the ASIAD 2018 village, said the village will have cafes, marts, karaoke bars, and healthcare rooms in service of participating athletes.

Around 1,000 security guards will be deployed to ensure safety for the village in fear that athletes could become a target of terror attacks.

With more than 14,000 enclosed apartments, the village is expected to accommodate 10,000 athletes, who can take a 40-minute bus trip to the main stadium.

The ASIAD 18 will draw 15,000 athletes and coaches from 45 sport delegations competing in 40 sports, 67 disciplines and 463 events. More than 30,000 volunteers will support the event.

The Games will feature 32 Olympic sports in a bid to help athletes prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Competitions of 38 sports will be broadcast live.

The Games will take place in Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2, 2018.
