The low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific has announced that its first 17 Vietnamese aircraft maintenance engineers have been granted Category B licences by the Vietnam Authority of Civil Aviation.

This is the first time Vietnamese engineers have reached high professional skill positions in an airline which were previously filled by foreign engineers.

Category B is one of the most important certificates in aircraft maintenance, repair and confirmation for operation of the aircraft.

At present, three of the 17 Vietnamese engineers are qualified for holding the position of Category B engineers at Jetstar Pacific.

The remaining 14 Vietnamese engineers, after recording enough aircraft experience, will take part in tests for Certificate Release to Service (CRS) to become Category B engineers in the next one or two years./.
