Hanoi (VNA) – President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on January 15 sent messages of condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over the deaths and injuries caused by a series of terror bombings and gunfight in downtown Jakarta on the previous day.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also conveyed sympathy to Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

Seven explosions rang out near Sarinah shopping mall while a gunfight between the attackers and police took place right in front of the mall on January 14.

Seven people were said to be killed, and 20 others injured during the attacks.

No Vietnamese have been reported to be killed or injured so far.-VNA
