A musical festival entitled Vietnam, Que Huong Toi (Vietnam, My Homeland) will be held in Hanoi between November 22 and 24 at the National Convention Centre to celebrate the first conference of overseas Vietnamese taking place on November 21.

Hanoi will welcome around 1,300 visitors to the show that will be highlighted on November 23 and broadcast live on Vietnam Television.

Taking part in the festival will be various popular domestic and overseas Vietnamese musicians and singers.

Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that the event aims to promote Vietnam’s culture and its art, as well as contribute to enhancing the solidarity of Vietnamese artists overseas with local people.

“The gala, which will be held for the first time, is not only an artistic performance but a bridge for Vietnamese at home and abroad to meet and exchange ideas,” he said.

Musician Truong Ngoc Ninh will work as the general director for the music festival which will display symphony, instrumental music, dancing and stars’ hits.

He chose Vietnam, Que Huong Toi, a song by musician Do Nhuan as the theme of the music festival because of its meaning.

“All Vietnamese people know the song,” Ninh says, “it will tells how the love of Vietnamese people is always directed toward the homeland no matter where they are.”

Each night, the concerts will feature performances by well-known overseas artists such as composer Nguyen Thien Dao from France, conductor Le Thi Phi from Macedonia, pianist Ton Nu Nguyen Minh from Germany.

Dao will conduct an orchestra of 100 musicians in Hon Thieng Song Nui (The Country’s Soul), his latest symphony. The symphony would feature the country’s braveness, romance, woefulness, majesty and dreams, he said.

The money from ticket sales at the festival will be donated to the National FundS for Vietnamese Children and the State Committee’s fund for Overseas Vietnamese./.
