For the New Year countdown, Hanoians will be treated to a lavish music performance that will take place in Cach Mang Thang Tam Square in front of the Hanoi Opera House on December 31.

The event will gather several new artists, including DJ Tenishia – a Maltese DJ duo comprised of Joven Grech - and Cyprian Cassar, who were ranked in the 50 best DJs in the world according to British publication DJ Mag – and the Dutch DJ and music producer Ruben de Ronde.

Leading Vietnamese underground artists, including JustaTee, Big Daddy and Mr A will also hit the stage during the night. The Hanoi-based Rhapsody Philharmonic featuring young music students will be there to add diversity to the show.

In addition, the performances will be embellished by a spectacular light show which is expected to offer audiences a memorable experience. An annual countdown event organised by Heineken will start at 8pm.

Heineken will hold numerous activities to welcome the New Year 2014 in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City from December 27-31, the Saigon Times Daily has reported.

Specifically, a massive water show with spectacular lighting and visual activation will take place at the Crescent in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7 on December 31.

The space around the symbolic lake will be specifically designed to host the parties which feature parading iconic floats representing the five continents of the world. The centre of the lake will feature a giant star-shaped stage where the thrilling water and lighting combined with live DJ music and dance shows are sure to thrill the crowds.

Foreign and local artists taking part in the show are European DJ Azam, singer Andreea D, violinist Sima, Australian percussionists and acrobats from Cirque and singers Ho Ngoc Ha, Ha Anh Tuan, Minh Hang, Bao Anh, and Trang Phap.

The main streets of the central city of Da Nang will be lit up from December 27-31 to welcome the New Year. Especially, a giant globe surrounded by a rotating LED screen will be set up on Han River.-VNA
