The 24th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee concluded on January 15 after opinions were given on a draft decree about the procedures for handling administrative violations at People’s Courts.

According to the Supreme People’s Court, the ordinance, including five chapters and 42 articles, will be a legal foundation for the courts in considering and deciding necessary administrative punishments in accordance with the Law on Handling Administrative Violations.

Participants at the session chided the court for the delay in submission of the draft to the committee, a whole year and a half after the administrative violation law was first approved.

During the three days sitting, the committee also considered the Government’s proposal to earmark over 48.6 trillion VND (2.3 billion USD) in bonds for 638 projects as it looks to complete them as scheduled.

The NA Standing Committee’s first meeting of the year has discussed some draft laws, including the Law on Immigration and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, the Customs Law (revised) and the Law on Bankruptcy (revised), among others.-VNA
