Vietnamese business owners gathered at a round-table seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on May 28 in search of promising deals in Peru, one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America.

The deals are expected to cover the trade, tourism, garment, agro-aquaculture, and science-technology sectors, among others.

With an annual average growth of 6.7 percent, Peru is looking to access the world’s largest markets via a series of trade agreements, said Peruvian Charge d’affaires in Vietnam Luis Tsuboyama.

The Peruvian side also pledged to assist Vietnamese investors in every possible way once they begin operating in the country.

PetroVietnam and Viettel are pouring more money in energy and media in Peru while Peru’s AJE Group has already dipped its toe into the Vietnamese beverage market.

Two-way trade between the two nations averages 100 million USD annually. Vietnam ships mainly apparel, footwear, rice and rubber products to Peru, while importing fish powder, animal oil and vegetables.-VNA
