Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid visits to Laos’ former Party and State leader on April 27 as part of his two-day official visit to the neighbouring country.

At the meeting with former Party chief and President of Laos Khamtay Siphandone, PM Phuc hailed his great dedication to the Lao revolutionary cause and the Vietnam-Laos special relations.

The PM wished the Lao former Party chief good health and extended warm greetings from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other Vietnamese senior leaders to him.

Phuc hoped that Siphandone would continue sharing his experience to further promote the two nations’ special relations and educate their young generations on the bilateral friendship.

Visiting General Sisavath Keobounphanh, former Prime Minister and President of the Lao Front for National Construction, PM Phuc spoke highly of the general’s contribution to the Lao revolution and the two countries’ ties.

The PM affirmed that leaders of both nations will pass down the tradition of their older generations and work hard to nurture the Vietnam-Laos relations.

Speaking at the meeting with Lao former Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, the Vietnamese PM said Thammavong has greatly contributed to the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, particularly the success of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Agreement for the 2011-2015 period.

Also the day, PM Phuc and his entourage laid a wreath at the unknown fallen martyrs’ monument in Vientiane.-VNA
