Issues relating to waste and sewerage management, energy saving and renewable sources of energy in Vietnam were high on the agenda at the Poland-Vietnam Environmental Protection Forum that opened in Hanoi on October 8.

At the forum, the participants discussed how to use the 2005 environment law to minimise the negative impacts of socio-economic development on the environment.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Bui Cach Tuyen said that Vietnam is striving to build a green economy by using environmentally friendly and energy saving technologies.

The forum also provided an excellent opportunity for Polish businesses to invest in this field in Vietnam, said Tuyen.

Poland ’s visiting Deputy Minister of Environment Beata Jaczewska, said that Poland is eager to share its experience in this field with Vietnam , including transferring its cutting-edge technologies in environmental protection.

Some of these tackle problems such as waste management and treatment, dealing with toxic waste, industrial and daily sewerage systems, recycling sources of energy and energy saving devices.

More and more Polish businesses have sought Vietnamese partners to transfer green technologies and the first joint venture between them was established this year.-VNA
