Quang Ninh province held a ceremony for the presentation and planting of 140 cherry trees from Japanese experts of Koushikai Association and International Culture Association on December 16.

The trees will be grown at Bai Chay tourist area in Ha Long city and Yen Tu zone of Uong Bi city.

According to the Chairwoman of Koushikai Association, Kawakami Hiroko the gift of cherry trees aims to tighten cooperative relations between Japan and Vietnam , in particular Quang Ninh province.

The event is even more meaningful as it occurs on the occasion of the upcoming 40 th anniversary of Vietnam–Japan diplomatic ties in 2013, proving cooperative and friendly relation between two countries.

With the gift, Japan also thanked Vietnamese people for their help following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.-VNA
