Russia is going to strengthen strategic partnership with India, President Dmitry Medvedev said at a press conference in the Kremlin on December 8 after the end of the talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“We intend to strengthen our strategic partnership in every way,” the Russian President was quoted by the Itar-Tass as saying.

According to the information of the Russian President, he and the Indian Prime Minister actively exchanged view on concrete spheres of Russian-Indian cooperation.

“The present level of mutual trust and partnership is bringing good results,” he said. Despite the world crisis, trade turnover between the two countries continues to grow. In the first nine months of this year it increased by 7.5 percent and exceeded 5 billion USD.

“Next year we are going to bring it to 10 billion USD,” said Medvedev, adding that, “considering the size of our domestic markets, this figure is not the limit.” The figures could be far greater.

He pointed out to positive dynamics in the development of Russian-Indian cooperation in space exploration, telecommunications, pharmaceutics and defence. He specially mentioned the development of cooperation in nuclear power engineering, stressing “we are going to further advance in this promising sphere.”

President Medvedev said he had discussed with the Indian Prime Minister some topical international problems, on which the attitude of the two countries is similar.
