Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej called on people across the country to unite while delivering an address at his 82 nd birthday at Bangkok ’s royal palace on Dec. 5.

The Thai King urged those holding important positions to do their duty to their best ability and to be mindful of their duty to the nation for the common good above all other interests.

He told members of the royal family, cabinet ministers, other members of the parliament that his well-being could be achieved with the nation's stability, prosperity and peace.

The King also emphasised that Thailand could only exist based on people’s unity, giving prominence to the national interest and working for the development.

After the address, the King returned to Bangkok 's Siriraj Hospital where he was admitted on September 19 with a pneumonia and fever. This was his second appearance in public since then.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world’s longest reigning monarch, is respected by the whole nation and considered a figure to unite 67 million Thai people./.
