Athlete Do Thi Thao pocketed her second silver at the Asian Grand Prix Series second leg in Chonburi , Thailand, on May 8.

The Vietnamese finished the women's 800m race with a time of 2min 7.10sec, just 0.2sec slower than the winner WKLN Nimali of Sri Lanka.

Third place went to Shanika Samanamali, another Sri Lankan, whose time was 2:07.53.

Thao, the only Southeast Asian competitor in this race, was 0.5sec faster than her time in Bangkok first leg five days ago, where she bagged her first ever continental silver.

The SEA Games' silver medallist was the only runner in the first-leg's top three to maintain her position on May 8. Bangkok winner Kubo Ruriko of Japan did not start, while the third-placed Irina Moroz of Uzbekistan dropped to fourth position.

In other events, Ghasemi Reza of Iran won the men's 100m while the title went to Viktoria Zyabkina of Kazakhstan on the women's side.

Arokai Rajiv of India triumphed in the men's 400m, while his teammate Machettir Raju Pooramma took the women's gold.

Thomas Jitin rounded of a solid day for India with a win in the men's high jump, as Nadiya Dusanova of Uzbekistan took the title in the women's category.

The third leg of the series takes place in Sri Lanka on May 12.-VNA
