The classic tragedy ‘King Lear,’ by William Shakespeare, will grace the stages of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang from October 24 to November 2.

The Arts Performance Centre at the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism announced on August 23 that they will co-host the production along with the TNT Theatre from the UK .

Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy will be directed by Paul Stebbing and performed in a more cinemagraphic style rather than as a traditional theatre production.

The writers of this new adaptation of ‘King Lear’ have blended together music and dance with the drama to come up with an original and contemporary version of the globally famous play.

This current production of ‘King Lear’ has already toured 10 countries around the world this year.

Over the last two years, the UK theatre has performed several Shakespearean classics before Vietnamese audiences, including Romeo and Juliet, A Christmas Carol, Macbeth and Oliver Twist.-VNA
