The Prime Minister has approved a plan on the implementation of the UN Convention against Transnational Organised Crime and the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children.

Under the plan, these documents will be implemented together with the country’s action plans and programmes on crime combat and prevention, especially the 2012-2015 national target programme on crime prevention, the action programme on fighting human trafficking crime in the 2011-2015 period.

The National Steering Committee for Crime Combat and Prevention reported that in the first quarter, more than 14,000 criminal cases were uncovered, up 4.83 percent from the previous quarter.

Of which, nearly 4,000 cases related to heroin trafficking, with over 7,000 involved people arrested and 98 kilograms of heroin and 600 kilograms of marijuana seized, and 50 cases were engaged in human trafficking, with 131 people arrested.-VNA
