Vietnam committed to open more training courses on ethnic affairs for Laos officials in 2010, organise activities to promote cooperation between the two countries’ provinces, facilitate discussions on ethnic issues and coordinate a Vietnam-Laos border provincial meeting.

The commitment was made at talks between the Vietnamese delegation led by Giang Seo Phu, Minister-Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Affairs, and the Lao delegation headed by Tong Yeu Tho, Vice Permanent President of the Laos Front for National Construction, was held in Hanoi on Dec. 14.

The Laos Front for National Construction in return, will also draft in 2010 a cooperation programme for ethnic affairs with Vietnam for the 2011-2015 period.

At the talks, both sides introduced their individual concerns regarding ethnic affair policies and main goals in the coming time.

The cooperation in ethnic affairs between Vietnam’s Committee for Ethnic Affairs and the Lao Front for National Construction made significant contributions to strengthening solidarity and traditional friendship between the two countries’ people, they said.

Vice President Tong Yeu Tho highly valued Vietnam’s aid, including the opening of training courses, and exchange of experiences in ethnic affairs.

On this occasion, the Committee for Ethnic Affairs presented the Lao Front for National Construction with 20 sets of computers./.
